Position Purpose & Strategic Impact

This role is ideal for a chemical science professional with strong analytical skills, regulatory understanding, and the ability to translate technical insights into actionable strategies.

The successful candidate will:

  • Consult on chemical processes, sustainability strategies, regulatory compliance, and risk management.

  • Guide organizations through product modernization, safety reviews, and process optimization.

  • Serve as the bridge between technical chemical requirements and business transformation goals.

  • Support digital modernization initiatives related to chemical data, lab systems, and compliance workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical process assessments, risk analyses, and safety reviews across manufacturing, laboratory, supply chain, or regulatory environments.

  • Analyze production workflows, materials usage, operational constraints, and environmental impacts to identify optimization opportunities.

  • Support the development or refinement of chemical handling standards, quality controls, and compliance documentation.

  • Lead requirements discovery sessions with technical, operational, and regulatory stakeholders.

  • Translate chemical and scientific requirements into digital system needs (e.g., LIMS, EHS, ERP modules, data systems).

  • Contribute to solution architecture for modernization projects involving chemical data, laboratory automation, or regulatory reporting.

  • Support organizations in meeting compliance requirements such as OSHA, EPA, REACH, GHS, or industry-specific regulations.

  • Prepare reports, technical briefs, analytical models, safety guidelines, and strategic recommendations.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the US and internationally.

  • Represent How Instant at scientific forums, industry events, and professional associations.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • 5+ years of experience in Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Science, EHS Compliance, Process Chemistry, or related fields.

  • Strong understanding of chemical processes, materials behavior, safety protocols, and risk assessment methods.

  • Experience working with regulated industries (e.g., manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, energy, environment, food and beverage, chemicals).

  • Ability to analyze complex scientific or operational problems and convert them into structured, actionable solutions.

  • Competence in interpreting regulatory frameworks and developing compliance pathways.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Materials Science, or related discipline.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage both technical experts and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Criteria

  • Master’s degree (MS, MEng, MBA, MPH, or related postgraduate qualification).

  • Experience with digital transformation in labs or chemical operations (e.g., LIMS, digital quality management, automated workflows).

  • Familiarity with chemical data analysis tools or modeling platforms.

  • Experience in sustainability analysis, green chemistry, decarbonization strategies, or environmental impact assessments.

  • Exposure to cross-border, multinational, or distributed project environments.
